Watching the royal family in England takes a bit of concentration. I liked Queen Elizabeth II – but the crap-storm around her sons does remind me that Elizabeth and Philip were cousins, and problems often occur when close relations have kids. She may have known it – she stayed on to the end, and her son Charles didn’t become king until he was 73 (the oldest person to ever ascend to the throne).

Now, the Andrew who once was Prince has been arrested and his mug shots posted, basically due to conduct revealed by the release of the Epstein files. The last member of the Royal Family arrested was (the beheaded) King Charles, who was executed for high treason at the end of January in 1649. The sassenach repented, and in 1660 they rehired his son Charles II (who wasn’t beheaded). Charles the second may have been somewhat of a moral example to the Andrew who once was Prince – a glance at Wikipedia produces this sentence: “Charles’s marriage to Catherine of Braganza produced no surviving children, but the king acknowledged at least 12 illegitimate children by various mistresses.” Charles II was responsible for the Royal in Royal Navy and the Royal Society in Science.

So now we shall see if Andrew is jailed, and if the (unbeheaded) King Charles is forced into abdication by the multiple indiscretions of his brother, the Andrew who once was Prince. Kind of a sad end for a man who was once a promising junior officer.
