When the towers fell, I didn’t know I had any connection with the people who died in New York. I should have known better – I understood the concept of six degrees of separation, but I am a westerner. So it took a while for me to learn that Renata’s niece lost a fiance that day. I never knew the young man – but this link tells about him: https://accordingtohoyt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/zzjik2cw.png

This one begins with his obit, but includes many comments from people who knew him: https://www.legacy.com/legacy/memorial/garth-feeney

Obviously an exceptional young man – yet I suspect that each who died in the September 11 attack was also exceptional to surviving family and friends. Garth Feeney was 25 when he died a quarter century ago. I had never met him – might have met him, or might not, had he lived. He would have been fifty now.

Take a moment, click the links, and see a single example of the huge loss that occurred on September 11, 2001.
