Our new milking parlor is still in the beginning stages, but after a great deal of planning, work, patience, and more than a little stubborn determination, it is finally taking shape.
The structure is standing, the roof is on, and we can finally step back and see real progress. There is still plenty of work ahead, but we are proud of how far it has come.
Blossom and Marmalade are endlessly curious about all the activity. They stand nearby watching, mooing at the building and at us, as though they are asking when they can come inside and inspect what we are doing. Somehow, I think they already know it belongs to them.
Every new addition to a homestead represents hours most people never see—the conversations, calculations, heavy lifting, changed plans, sore muscles, unexpected expenses, and the decision to keep going anyway.
We have learned to be a little quieter about our plans until they are complete. Some dreams need to be protected while they are still being built.
So, for now, we are sharing the progress, not the blueprint.
What we can say is that this little building has an important purpose, and we are excited to watch it become part of the life we are creating here at Saddleman Trading Homestead.
It isn’t finished yet, but it is finally coming together, and that feels pretty wonderful.
The chickens have inspected the construction and apparently approved it.
Blossom and Marmalade remain unconvinced that things are moving quickly enough.
