As I look to the east, the scenery is morning twilight – black trees against black mountains. In the sky, the sun, not yet risen, has tinted a pair of clouds pink. A few stars still show through the unclouded parts of the sky. I remember an old man, much younger than I am now, explaining that the beauty of the prairie was reserved for people who got up and out early. The Mountains share that, but provide more during full daylight.
