An unopposed candidate is not automatically entitled to your vote.

Whether it’s County Attorney, Clerk and Recorder, or another county office, you do NOT have to fill in an oval simply because there is only one name listed.

If you do not support that candidate, you can leave that race blank. Your valid votes in the other races and ballot measures still count.

Some call this “unvoting.” It does not remove the candidate from office or prevent an unopposed candidate from winning. It simply means their vote total will not include an endorsement from you.

A blank race does not officially record a protest or explain your reasons. But you are under no obligation to reward someone with your vote just because nobody challenged them.

Party affiliation does not replace accountability. Running unopposed does not mean unanimous public support.

Your vote is yours. Make it an intentional choice.

November 3, 2026. Vote where you support. Leave it blank where you don’t.
